Learn About HUMIRA Dosing and Proper HUMIRA® Injection Techniques
To get the most from your HUMIRA treatment, it is important to stay on HUMIRA for as long
as your doctor prescribes, even if your symptoms start to improve. We've provided
you with tools and information to help you stay on track and make sure you're taking
your HUMIRA correctly.
Stay on HUMIRA, and on track
Your condition developed over time, so it makes sense that your treatment may take
a while to work. Some people experience symptom relief faster than others with HUMIRA, results may vary from person to person.
If you stop taking HUMIRA, your symptoms may get worse. So talk to your doctor before
making any changes to your treatment.
HUMIRA is a medicine given by injection under the skin. Make sure you have been instructed by a healthcare provider how to inject HUMIRA before you do it yourself. Your first injection should be given under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
Safety Considerations
- Serious infections have happened in patients taking HUMIRA. These infections
include tuberculosis (TB) and infections caused by viruses, fungi, or bacteria that
have spread throughout the body.
- HUMIRA may increase the chance of getting lymphoma or other cancers. There
have been cases of unusual cancers in children and teenagers using TNF-blocker
medicines.
- HUMIRA can cause serious side effects including allergic reactions, hepatitis
B virus reactivation, nervous system problems, blood problems, heart failure, certain
immune reactions (including a lupus-like syndrome), and new or worsening psoriasis.
One of the most common side effects with HUMIRA is injection site reactions such
as redness, rash, swelling, itching, or bruising. These symptoms usually will go
away within a few days.
If you have pain, redness, swelling around the injection site that doesn’t go away
within a few days or gets worse, call your doctor right away.
Do not inject HUMIRA more often than prescribed.
Signs of a serious allergic reaction include a skin rash, swollen face, and trouble
breathing. Call your doctor right away if you experience any of these symptoms.
